Biography:
Martha was born on 4 April 1876 in the family of the military serviceman. Her father Daniel Flynn was a sergeant retired after several years of military service. Martha's mother Sylvia Flynn had passed away when she was only two years old. Having been grown up without a mother figure, she obtained more of what would've been considered a "manly" character. Martha could be described as a woman with a strong and explosive character, having inherited much of the traits from her father who served in the military. She owned and carried with herself a handgun, having learned how to shoot when she was younger thanks to her father. She was dreaming of leaving poverty that her family was in, but these dreams were only remaining as the dreams most of her life. Daniel Flynn had developed some disabilities after the military service, and so she was carrying the weight of feeding them both. During the outbreak of the World War I, Martha was thinking of joining the hospital service and becoming the nurse, however eventually she decided to stay as a cook, working on the hospital ships and feeding both the medical staff and the wounded soldiers with the best meals. After working on HMHS Aquitania for some time, she eventually changed the ships and stepped aboard the HMHS Britannic as she was heading for her fourth voyage across the Mediterranean
