Biography:

In 1885, Joseph Benjamin was born into a middle class family in Liverpool, England. His father, a coal worker, never managed to get enough time to spend with his son and instilled a strong work ethic and the value of perseverance. His mother, a former schoolteacher, fostered his love of herbs and medicine. At the age of 24, he finally got a decent job in a small hospital nearby. After the sinking of the Titanic, Joseph strived to learn more about his passion. With the beginning of World War 1 and news of the Britannic ship, Joseph would volunteer to board.
